Security Camera Coverage Increases in High Impact Areas

The Miami Beach Police Department has been working hard to increase security camera coverage across the city, and major progress has been made. With funding from the 2018 voter-approved General Obligation (G.O.) Bond Program, dozens of new security cameras were recently added to some of South Beach’s most high impact areas. The amount of 24-hour surveillance infrastructure on Ocean Drive has now doubled, and there are also more cameras watching Lummus Park and the Beachwalk path than ever before.
The Miami Beach G.O. Bond Program has $72 million that is solely dedicated to public safety improvements. With a heavy focus on crime-stopping and life-saving technologies, the city continues to implement projects that will upgrade and expand upon its security camera, license plate reader, and emergency communication equipment citywide.
